What you need to know

You can submit an application for tuition assistance up to 180 days before the start of the course.

Program maximums

Eligible employees enrolled in programs to receive their associate’s, bachelor’s, or master’s degree can receive up to $5,250 in financial assistance annually for approved courses at regionally accredited institutions. 

Program requirements and eligibility

To participate in either program, you must have an active EdAssist account and meet these criteria:

  • Be an active U.S. employee on the State Farm payroll, working at least 18 hours per week or 36 hours per pay period
  • Logged a minimum of 180 consecutive calendar days of service before the course start date
  • Be in good standing (no memos issued in the 12 months prior to the course start date)
  • Take courses at regionally accredited institutions
  • Receive manager approval before the course start date. If you are participating in the Direct Bill program, approval must be received at least 14 days prior to course start date.

Tuition reimbursement

With this option, you pay tuition and eligible fees up front and receive reimbursement after you successfully complete the course. You can be reimbursed for tuition, textbooks, eligible fees, and certain credit options. To receive reimbursement, you must meet certain requirements. Review the Tuition Assistance Reimbursement Policy for details.

To get started, apply at statefarm.edassist.com before the course start date. Then, take the following steps:

  1. Submit your application for tuition reimbursement at statefarm.edassist.com. Leader approval is needed at least one day before the course start date.
  2. Pay for courses and keep receipts.
  3. Upload grades and documentation within 60 days after the course ends.
  4. Receive reimbursement after verification.

Direct bill

With this option, State Farm pays your school directly for tuition and eligible fees and reimburses you for the cost of books. To receive reimbursement, you must meet certain requirements. Review the Tuition Assistance Direct Bill Policy for details.

Here’s how direct bill works:

  1. Confirm that your school participates in direct bill.
  2. Submit your application for direct bill at statefarm.edassist.com. Leader approval is needed at least 14 days before the course start date.
  3. Deliver your letter of credit to the school.
  4. The school invoices EdAssist; payment goes directly to the school.
  5. Upload your grades within 60 days after the course ends.
